The Piercer Notes Pane

The Piercer Notes Pane is the interface for finalizing client waivers before uploading them to the cloud. It automatically appears when a client finishes her waiver (in the New Client Flow, Returning Client Flow, and Saved for Later Flow), signaling that the client should give the iPad to the piercer or studio staff.

Accessing the Piercer Notes Pane

The Piercer Notes Pane is only accessible when the client finishes a section of a new waiver, searches and opens a Returning Client waiver, or recalls a Save For Later waiver. Either the Master Passcode or the Piercer Passcode is required. Upon access, the "Client Health Considerations" screen is displayed. This screen summarizes the client's health information, automatically compiled from their waiver, ensuring that critical health details are not overlooked by the piercer and are readily available for review.

Piercer Input: Required and Recommended Data

PRF app requires only the piercer's signature and a description of the jewelry used in all piercings for the waiver to upload. Compliance with local health and state laws may require the piercer to enter information beyond their signature and jewelry selection. Including additional data is strongly recommended for enhanced legal protection.

This interface was developed alongside piercer @Steve_Truitt, which is why it is so smooth and thorough. NO CHANCE we could have built this without Steve. #respect

Piercer Notes categories

The Piercer Notes Pane collects data in these categories:

  • Jewelry: Records the specific jewelry components used in the piercing procedure.
  • Financials: Tracks payment information related to the service.
  • Supporting Documents: Allows for the attachment of pertinent documentation.
  • Piercer Notes: Provides a space for piercers to record session notes or observations.
  • Piercer Signature: Required by law to validate the waiver.

Jewelry

Select Jewelry Used

This feature provides an interface to help a piercer quickly select the exact jewelry components that make modern piercing so dynamic and often complex.

The interface has three sections of configurable jewelry components:
  1. Post
  2. Gem/Top details
  3. Gem/ Top color

A massive list of industry-standard options is preloaded into PRF, and can be removed, edited, or customized at Settings > EDITORS Tab > Jewelry Editor

1. POST

The piercer literally dials in these details of the post used in the piercing.

  • Post manufacturer
  • Post material
  • Post gauge
  • Post size
  • Post type

2. Gem/Top details

The piercer literally dials in these details of the gem or top used in the piercing.

  • Gem/Top manufacturer
  • Gem/Top material
  • Gem/Top setting
  • Gem/Ball size

3. Gem/Top Color

The piercer literally dials in the type of top used in the piercing. Three columns of choice are presented, expecting the piercer to select from only one column.

  • Gems
  • Cabochons
  • Genuine Stones

Once the components are dialed in, the piercer taps the green +ADD THIS JEWELRY TO WAIVER, and will see the details of the jewelry they chose listed for final inspection to ensure accuracy.

Example:

BVLA Titanium 18 1/6in. Barbell BVLA Stainless Cluster 3/32in. Black Opal #32

  1. Post: BVLA Titanium 18 1/6in. Barbell
  2. Gem/Top details: Barbell BVLA Stainless Cluster 3/32in.
  3. Gem/Top color: Black Opal #32

Tapping DONE adds the jewelry to the final PDF waiver.

Financials

Here, the piercer can add financial data about the session, including options for the amount due, deposit, amount paid, total tax, and payment method.

PRF can export a report of all financial data in .csv format, accessed in Settings > Database > Generate Financial Report

Supporting Documents

Options:
  • Legal guardian ID and Signature
  • Birth Certificate
  • Add second ID
  • Second Gov't ID photo
  • Custom document
  • Add image from iPad Image Libraries

Piercer Notes

Text input field for any notes the piercing wishes to be reflected on the final waiver.

Piercer Signature

Required by law to validate the waiver.

Finishing the waiver

Following data entry, the piercer can perform one or more of the following actions:

  • Sign the waiver: Upon signing, the release form is ready. Tap UPLOAD to send it to the studio cloud.
  • Tap Options: Accesses further options (listed below).
  • Tap Save for Later: Saves the waiver as a draft for later completion.

Options Button

Preview this waiver: The piercer will see an image of the final PDF before it is saved to the cloud. This allows the piercer to ensure the client entered accurate facts into the release form, confirm that the ID photo is clear, and see in RED TEXT all health questions that the client answered yes to. NOTE: Piercer Notes will not appear in the preview. They aren't attached to the waiver until it is uploaded to the cloud.

Make changes to the waiver: If the piercer discovers unsatisfactory client inputs (such as selfies instead of ID photos, which do not hold up in court), this feature allows changes to be made before upload.

Add supporting documents: While this option is also offered to the piercer at the end of the Piercer Notes Pane, body modification artists sometimes find it best to gather and photograph documents immediately, then fill out the notes. This allows the client to put their bona fides safely away and relax while we take care of the details.

Cancel and start a new waiver:  Sometimes, it's simply necessary.
